About Fukagawa
Fukagawa area was developed in 17th century as residential and commercial area of commoners in the city Edo, today's Tokyo. The tour visit places where old atmosphere, over 200 years, is still reserved.
Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine: Established in 1627 as one of major shrines in Edo. Sumo, as a religious rite in original, was firstly took place here, and some memorial stone monuments can be seen.
Fukagawa Fudou Temple: The main Buddha statue is Fudo, a fierce looking powerful Buddha. A special prayer with a sacred fire is carried out everyday.
Fukagawa Edo Museum: Diorama of old town will show how citizens lived in Edo era (17~19 century).
Kiyosumi Japanese Garden: One of the typical Japanese style garden with a pond, trees and precious rocks.
Original garden was constructed in 18th century by a Daimyo, feudal lord, and re-developed by Iwasaki Yatarou in 1891.
You will find a comfortable oasis in the busy city Tokyo.
